Use Of Is Am Are

“Is,” “am,” and “are” are present tense variations of the verb “to be,” used to express states, conditions, or identities. The correct form depends on the subject of the sentence and whether it is singular or plural. 

Here is a simple guide to help you

1. Is

        It is used with singular subjects, particularly with third person singular noun and pronouns(He, She, It)

                  Example:-  

                                  He is tall.

                                   It is a banyan tree.

2. Am

         It is  used only with first person singular noun or pronoun. “I”.

                    Example:- 

                                  I am very disciplined girl.

                                  I am going to the Odisha.

3. Are

          It is used with plural subjects like “they”, “we”, “you” and with the second-person singular subject (you).

                  Example:- 

                           They are rebellious children.
